I adored this photo session with Jasmine and her boyfriend, Andrew. We geared the theme around Valentine's Day as far as outfits and props. Jasmine wore a red dress with a deep v in the back, complimented by a big bow. She also brought a bouquet and wrapped a newspaper around it, I thought this was so cute!
The exact location of this photo shoot was down Shell Drive in Bonita Springs. The State Preserve is all the way at the end of the road, past The Club at Barefoot Beach. It costs $8 to enter and park at the beach. You will find three different parking lots, we parked at the second lot with the large tiki hut. Each parking lot has access to the beach via a boardwalk. There are several smaller boardwalks that connect all the winding paths together. This was nice because it allowed more privacy for a more intimate couples' shoot. The trees were grown close to the railings and they touched at the top creating a "tree tunnel" - an especially charming backdrop.
Adding a second person in the photo frame isn't always easy. This requires making not one, but two people look good with angles and facial expressions. Before taking the first photo, I reiterated to Jas & Anj to not "pose" and instead to hold each other as they usually would. We didn't want to make anything look forced or unnatural - but they've been dating for a little 4 years now, so I wasn't too worried about that. This was Andrew's first shoot with the camera on him and I think he did great!
My best advice for photos with two or more subjects is to turn one of their faces away from the camera. This slightly eliminates capturing a perfectly timed photo. If both subjects were looking at the camera, it may take several shots to achieve the best one.
It was quite chilly and breezy that day, so for some of the shots Jas threw on a tan peacoat. I loved this cozy look with the vibrant pops of colors.
The next post is a fun tutorial, so be on the lookout!
